There have been many books that have helped me along the way. I plan to add to this page many times as we move forward.
The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch - An absolutely amazing book. After reading it, I decided to spend a year connecting to my own childhood dreams. This has led me to screenwriting camp and sea lion training to name just a few. I feel so grateful for the book and the experiences it helped me to have. It is also, of course, part of the inspiration for this site. (Legal Note - while I was inspired by the book, this site is completely independent from direct affiliation with that book).
The Power of Less by Leo Babauta - This book helped me to take control. I am now doing way less and getting way more of what is important to me done. The insights on email alone are worth the purchase price. He also has a great website www.zenhabits.net
The Three Laws of Performance by Steve Zaffron & Dave Logan – I picked this book for advice as a small business owner and got so much more. There is a brilliant concept in there called your Default Future. This is the place you are headed if you keep doing what you are doing, even if you say you don’t want it. There are some great suggestions for how to move away from the default and into a life you create for yourself.
The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron - This book helped me to reconnect to creativity in an incredibly reassuring and supportive way. It was such an amazing thing that without knowing me, the author could often anticipate how I would feel as I reconnected to my creative self. She has taught me to go for my dreams, since all of the obstacles in my way were self-created, and thus I have been the one to knock them down.
The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds - This is a great children’s book about accepting where you are when you begin as an artist. My favorite line is “Just make a dot and see where it takes you”.
